About Us
Jane D’Souza – Owner

After studying and working in Edinburgh for 7 years, I was offered my first job in GIS (Geographical Information Systems) at Bristol University where I met my husband, Giles. We then moved to Bedfordshire where we have lived since 1989. Our two children are now grown up and have moved away from home.
I am now retired and spend a lot of time travelling, always planning some sort of trip, in the UK or abroad. My other interests include walking, yoga, keeping fit, crime and domestic noir novels, and photography.
I grew up on a hill sheep farm just north of Newcastleton and attended primary school in the village. It is great to have a holiday home in the village so that we can still keep in touch with family and friends. We come up regularly and always benefit from the local hospitality and the great outdoors.
I wish you a very pleasant stay at Staffin.
Carol Dobson – Caretaker / Cleaner

I am Carol, the housekeeper of Staffin. I will make sure your stay in the cottage is as perfect as possible so please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have a problem, would like a restaurant recommendation, or some other advice about the village.
I have lived in Newcastleton all my life and absolutely love it. The village is very friendly, some say the friendliest village in Scotland!
I hope you enjoy your stay at Staffin.
